I won't go into laborious boring detail about how much I love Marathon, except to say that I think it is pretty cool software, and likewise for the various editors especially (yay yay!) Pfhorte. If only the Macintosh had a CAD program as easy to use!
So, what is this map pack all about? Basically, because scenarios are kinda kool, this is all set in the middle of the standard Marathon scenario, mostly because I wanted to create some Pfhor maps and didn't want the S'pht to be rebelling! Hence the name "The Director's Cut", the bits Bungie forgot to put in, and also a sort of weak pun on the name of the first map in the pack really. Most of the levels have some sort of objective to them, usually exterminate and explore, so those of you without network facilities should enjoy them, but I think they make pretty good network levels too. Anyway, cut the c**p and onwards!
Level 0: Life Imitates Art
This level is set in the theatre on board the Marathon. The terminals carry appropriate looking messages, if you copy the terminal resources into the main marathon app.
Solo: Exterminate the enemy and explore, backstage and in the lighting box, the orchestra pit and more. Look at the map for doors.
Net: There is a flamethrower and a missile launcher! The game really goes off once everyone knows the location of these, but you'll have to look hard to find them.
Level 1: Meltdown
Solo: Somewhere deep in the geothermal power core of the Marathon, resistance lurks.
Beware of radiation! You must find a repair chip that is lying around somewhere to prevent a meltdown occuring, and then make it to the terminal.
Net: Slaughter em. Some great places to hide if you're a wimp. Search the maze for goodies.
Level 2: Take the long road home..
Solo: This is the first half of your repair task on the exterior of the ship, so you
must get to the exterior of the ship. (Surprise!) Once again, look at the maps
carefully. This level is quite a challenge if you start on it without going through
levels 0 and 1 first.
Net: Not really a net level, but you can play it if you want to!
The second half of the repair job level is under construction, and will be cool!! Send
me email if you want to be put on a list notifying you of when it comes out.
Level 3: The End
No exits, congratulate yourself if you survive!
More levels in the pipeline. The major version # of this map will reflect the number of levels in this map.
